Vegan Dinner at Pirates Tavern

leave a comment »

Slogged my way through traffic (how there could possibly be traffic at 2pm on a weekeday is beyond me) and met up with other volunteers for the Vegan Holiday Festival. If you visit Portland, you must check out Pirates Tavern. Despite being out near an industrial park….the space is very large and quite nice.

I had fun ordering. I kept asking the waiter if this was vegan or that was vegan. Of course the menu cover has a giant 100% Vegan on it in thousand point font. I was never good at reading directions anyway. I had the “beef” strogonaff, salad and chocolate-peanut butter cake. mmmmm, mmmmm, good.

Several of the speakers were also there. I got to meet Howard Lyman, the “Mad Cowboy,” a 4th generation cattle rancher turned Vegan Activist. Can’t wait to hear his talk tomorrow.
