About Ravi

headshot white shirtHey there! My name is Ravi Raman and I’m a business strategy guy, yogi, and yoga teacher, ultra marathon runner, triathlete, author and Peak Performance Coach.

I created this site with the purpose of helping each and every one of you to set and achieve powerful goals in your life.

I’ve been goal setting and reading personal development books my entire life. I’ve attended seminars, workshops and met with countless experts to understand the art and science of personal achievement.

On this blog you will key distinctions and insights that are guaranteed to motivate and help you to live a better life. While I don’t have all the answers, I do know that through sharing what each of us have found to work in our own lives, we can build a community of committed growth seekers that will be unstoppable at whatever we put out minds to.

I have spent 14 years working in leadership roles at one of the largest technology companies on the planet – Microsoft. Since joining Microsoft as a college intern, I’ve had countless promotions through to Director-level, became a people manager, and worked in several very distinct jobs – from finance to product planning and marketing.

All while working a demanding career, I’ve managed to maintain an active and balanced lifestyle – completed Ironman triathlons and ultra-marathons, taught over 500 yoga classes, traveled globally…and of course, published this blog. Most recently, I’ve taken a sabbatical from work, and have spent the past year traveling the world with my wife and our two dogs. You can read about my travel adventures here. It has been the experience of a lifetime.

What I am most excited about is what I am up RIGHT NOW. I have recently started seeing clients as a Peak Performance Coach. I started a coaching practice to support others in designing a life and work experience that best aligns with what they really want and need. We spend the best hours of the best years of our life at work – it better be something that gets you excited and motivated. You deserve that.

My focus is on helping you to find more passion, excitement and success in your work. Not happy with your job? Not employed and wondering what’s next? Wondering when that next promotion is going to happen? Looking to make a career change? Looking for more work-life balance? Think it is time to give up your job and go travel or try something new? Want to start your own business?

While my focus is career and lifestyle design, I also work with clients on goal-setting, vision development and wellness coaching.

  4. While we are talking about About Set Higher Standards, Green Smoothies are easy to make, very nutrient-dense and one of the best ways to increase your greens intake significantly. They also crowd out the desire to eat less nutritious foods. You can make them very sweet, with the right mix of fruit and greens, so they satisfy sweet cravings and provide the real nutrition that your body is craving.

  6. I’m also using Thesis Theme.

Which plugin are you using for the newsletter?

What did you modify on it in order to get the background in grey color?

How did you add the yellow square text message on the front page (Welcome to SETHIGHERSTANDARDS.COM. I am Ravi Raman and am here to share tips on how to live a healthier and more joyful life!)

I’m building a blog for a friend and would like to make some small changes.

    Thank you! 😉

    1. Check out the thesis blog…that is where I learned how to do all this stuff. I can’t remember exactly what I did so I can’t tell you off the top of my head. You just modify/add some text in a few of the theme files. In terms of newsletter…I just use feedburner and they provide an option to subscribe to RSS/posts via e-mail. I don’t have any other newsletter at this time.

  7. Hi Ravi,
We were in Teacher Training 1 together last summer & I was googling Baron & I came across your site. It’s very impressive…I really mean that. I’ve had a rough couple of weeks & I found your site to be extremely uplifting. Take care & maybe I’ll see you at another Baron retreat!!!
    Namaste,
    Christina

  10. Hi, Ravi. I have just read some of your blogs. Very interesting! I like your writing style. Keep on writing!!!

So you were an ironman triathlete??? Wow!!!!
No wonder you looked so fit!

I also checked out the vegan bodybuilders link from yr blog. Interesting. I remember watching Tony’s video about ‘static contraction’ weight lifting system. It’s soooooo interesting. What do you think of that?

I checked about raw veganism and browsed some raw food recipes, coz I am curious how do you make soup without heating, how you make lasagna without heating. Wow! very interesting techniques.

Once again, great meeting you and Anastasia and Brent today. You all make my day.

    Fannie
